This week, we’re heading to a city that has been setting the standard for over a thousand years.
Â
Welcome to Kyoto, Japan’s former imperial capital and home to more than 1,600 temples, perfectly preserved districts, and some of the most recognizable scenery in the world.
Â
Kyoto isn’t about modern skylines or neon lights. It’s about craftsmanship, tradition, and places that have stood exactly where they are for centuries.
Â
⛩ Fushimi Inari Taisha - Thousands of bright vermilion torii gates climb the mountainside in a continuous path.
🎋 Arashiyama Bamboo Grove - It’s exactly what it sounds like, a towering corridor of bamboo that stretches above you in every direction.
🏮 Higashiyama District - If you want traditional Kyoto streets, this is it. This district is lined with wooden machiya townhouses, tea shops, and small artisan stores. Stone-paved lanes wind uphill toward temples and viewpoints overlooking the city.
✨ Kinkaku-ji (The Golden Pavilion) - One of Japan’s most iconic temples, its top two floors covered in gold leaf and reflected in a still pond below.

Happy Travels!
