We’ve got a beautiful story for you today.
So get ready for the Friday Feels, courtesy of traveler Lenina 🙂
Lenina traveled to the remote village of Kassunga, Uganda to volunteer for 2 weeks at St. Teresa Learning Center, a school that the nonprofit Kassunga Mission Initiative is building.
“When we arrived in the village, we were greeted with overwhelming love and enthusiasm from the local community. There was traditional music, dancing, food and more. Heartfelt speeches of gratitude were followed by the dedication and grand opening of the new dormitory and nursery school buildings.”
From reading storybooks to young children, to setting up a new solar-powered computer lab (and showing the teachers how to use the computers), to helping in the medical clinic treating the health concerns of students and their families, Lenina poured out her heart and soul into serving the kids in the community of Kassunga.
“Perhaps my favorite part of the trip was interviewing applicants for KMI's Tuition Assistance Program. It was such a special time to get to meet and talk to Ugandan students one-on-one, learning about their lives, their families, their hobbies, and their dreams for the future. I can't wait to watch those dreams come true!“
“One of the most moving experiences was creating a chain of love, a paper chain with the names of students and teachers in Uganda as well as donors and supporters in the USA. It was so big that literally surrounded the entire student body at St. Teresa Learning Center with love and unity. What a fitting way to end our time in the village of Kassunga.”
Here’s to spreading love, inspiring dreams, and making a difference, & to feeling good - because after all, it’s Friday.
