Chimene’s Story
Sra. Chimene is Haitian. She is 75 years old. She is an enterprising woman and the mother of four children. Even though she never had the chance to go to school, she never let that be an impediment to achieving her goals. She came to the the Dominican Republic twenty years ago in search of a better quality of life and a better future. At this time, she has been in business for about ten years. She currently earns her living selling charcoal and gasoline. She runs the business out of her home. Sra. Chimene wants to use this loan to purchase other merchandise to stock up her business, to have a greater variety of products, to grow her business and to meet her customer demand. Even though Sra. Chimene has a medical condition in her right eye, she doesn't allow that to affect her performance and determination. To the contrary, she gets up each day with more energy and with a grater desire to get ahead.
