Samuel Powers: I was living in Kigali Rwanda as a researcher in 2019-2020. The kigali fabric market is inside a set of buildings in the city center. If you don't know what you're looking for, it can be pretty tough to find. It's not marked, you just have to know. But when you get inside, there are fabrics stacked floor to ceiling and wall to wall. It's a pretty magical place. Kigali, as a city, is stunning. Its a collection of very steep hills that each form neighborhoods with their own distinct characters. Because of the terrain, everywhere has a view of the surrounding countryside.
